The number of foreigners officially registered in the population register of Spain are foreigners, 40% of whom live in the province of Alicante!
Useful to know: Alicante is the third province in Spain with the most foreigners, after Madrid and Barcelona. Almost half of the foreigners living in the Valencia region live permanent in the province of Alicante. This is evident from the annual report. More than 40% of foreigners living in the province of Alicante are residents of 5 municipalities: Alicante with 50,691 foreigners (13%), Torrevieja with 33,961 (8.7%), Orihuela with 27,874 (7.2%), Elche with 26,652 (6.9%) and Benidorm with 20,620 (5.3%). Rojales and Ciudad Quesada make up a large part of it. 159,798 foreigners live in these municipalities (41.1%), an increase of 4,778 people compared to the previous year. Based on these figures, residents registered abroad or the large number or holidaymakers were not taken into account.
Major assets are of course, first and foremost, the climate of the southern Costa Blanca with the highest number of sunny days. Also the extensive sandy beaches, the healing influence of the nearby salt lakes in Torrevieja, La Mata bordering Rojales, San Miguel, Santa Pola, the historical past with various monuments and, not unimportantly, one of the cheapest regions in our community of Valencia.
